The Flemish Parliament is the legislative branch, it issues decrees together with the Flemish Government. Flemish elected representatives sit in the Flemish Parliament and are elected to five-year terms. The Flemish Parliament is made up of 124 members, 118 of whom are elected by the inhabitants of the Flemish Region and six by the inhabitants of the Brussels-Capital Region. The main tasks of the Flemish Parliament are to approve Flemish decrees, appoint and control the Government and approve the budget.
